I love to discover cool vintage ideas -- or "rediscover" something in my own collection. Rediscovery can be as inspiring as discovery.

We've come a long way since those days, haven't we Carolyn? When I was taking the sewing classes for my custom clothing certificate, my classmates would find out that I have blog and then they'd tell me about this great blog that they thought I would like. And it was always YOURS! I'd smile and tell them that you and I go way back (and that, yes, you are the real deal...and that yes, you really do have all of that fabric and you're to blame for half of mine, too! *laugh*).

I remember when you were collecting vintage patterns when you lived in Trenton...I didn't understand then. But I do now and share your love of vintage patterns. Hope all is well!

I think that's an ingenious way to show the skirt front and back as well as how the pattern works, even if it's a stretch to imagine the scenario. I carry my weight through my hips and thighs and my legs are short -- so this skirt isn't for me. My best style is really a dress -- bodice matching skirt -- with some fullness in the skirt.

Hi, I really like this series of patterns you are sharing. The plan for your wardrobe this year is great. I sew for a family member with similar proportion 'issues', and I look for:
bustline dart: helps to create a good torso fit, it seems like princess darts are best most of the time
back bodice darts: keeps a smoother body in back
customized neckline: to find the most flattering width & depth on a rounded neckline, we play with muslin to see what shape looks best
lower hem: drop the hemline a bit to lengthen the torso

I know from experience that the vertical lace will accentuate the bosom, but I agree that the other view should be fine. I think it's quite professional looking. And I like the idea of a brooch instead of the bow.

I vote for the one without the lace. Although it adds vertical lines, that is just too busy and you might feel more self conscious. The tucks alone version with the one long line of vertical buttons would look fabulous on you--especially in a solid color that flatters you. Maybe one of your retro brooches I think I heard you mention in a podcast would look good instead of the bow although that could make buttons an issue. Love the cuffs! I hope you get a chance to try it.

What a lovely blouse. As I am not overly endowed in the chest area it would look smashing on me! I shall have to look into obtaining a pattern for such.
I, too, would not be a person who stared at one's bosom, but don't trust others, if you know what I mean. The one without the ribbons/trim would be OK for you, I would think, though.
