Podcast: Finding Pockets of Time to Sew

womanwithtotebagMy friend, Dr. Meggin McIntosh, used to intimidate the heck out of me.  She is one of these women who does about a bazillion things at once and does them well.  But that isn’t surprising.  After all, she is the “Ph.D. of Productivity.”

Since I’m still having trouble with talking without coughing, I asked Meggin to join me on the podcast to share her strategies for finding time.  You’ll want to listen to her ideas on how to find “pockets of time to sew.”

True to her word, Meggin sent photos of Gene and Greta to me.  These guys are absolutely adorable!

Thanks for the pod cast. How funny that you reference life to a tote bag. A year or so ago I used to carry a tote bag and I had everything imaginable and more in it. Then one day in an effort to have some control I switched to a small handbag. The bag could only contain the absolute nessesities. I have struggled to keep my small bag clean and orderly. Funny thing is I found that I really didn’t need all the extra stuff I was carrying around.
I have tried to apply this princple to other areas of my life, it difficult but worth the effort. I believe that what we feel inwardly (cluttered, stressed, overwhelmed) reflects outwardly and vice versa. When the things around you are unorganized or piled up, that inside you feel more stressed.
For me it is a constant tug of war to declutter my mind and life and try not to stress about it.

  • Dr. Julie, I am loving your podcast. I listened to this episode yesterday while shoveling snow in 6° F. weather. It was so inspirational I stopped in my tracks a couple of times to replay & listen again. I loved the idea of life as totebag with pockets. I have always tried the “sew 10/20/30 minutes every day” with no luck. I guess I thought I didn’t need to schedule my sewing time. But I realize now that I do, and I’m working on next week’s schedule right now. Thank you so much!
