As I explain in my podcast, you have to love a class where you are required to go to the garment district and fondle fabric all day!
Atlas Levy is the shop I mentioned that will give a 10% student discount. You fill out a form and receive a coupon.
This is what my sewing toolbag looks like (The Stanley M520100 Wheeled Tool Bag) at the Stanley website:
And this is what it looks like with my stuff in it (I can’t zip it up) and that is muslin sticking out of the top.
This is the fabric that my prof helped me choose. The right side is an eggplant color, the wrong side is navy. I’ve already washed and dried the fabric but I forgot to look at the end of the bolt to see what the content is. I ran a sample swatch through the machine and it held up just fine. The best part? Only $3 per yard. I think it is a poly with either lycra or spandex. It has a good stretch to it even though it is a woven.
Wish me luck that I’ll finish the dress in time for the reunion!

Love the podcast. This will be like taking the class with you! The field trip was fun to hear about. And I never would have guessed Asbestos!
