In yesterday’s podcast, which I didn’t get to post about because I was on a class field trip (details to be shared later), I share with you what I’ve learned so far about textiles and industrial sewing machines. I also discuss my upcoming 30th! class reunion (and I just say that I remember when my in-laws attended my mother-in-law’s 35th class reunion?) and what I’m considering wearing (see below).

I like Vintage Vogue pattern #1011 because it has an elegant feel about it without being fussy. Primary concerns: will I be able to make a full bust adjustment and do I have the time?
I like Vogue 8593 because it give a vague nod toward the wonderful suit that Mrs. Obama wore to Mr. Obama’s speech to the Joint Session of Congress last week but it is a sheath instead of a suit. Also, because it is for stretch fabrics, the fit issues aren’t as much of an issue.
What do you think? Which one would you choose to wear to a Southern California, early October, outdoor evening reunion (with people you haven’t seen in 30 years)?

Love the neckline and the sleeves on the red dress, envelope #2 – very becoming and I think will look really for your event. Hope you have to time to make it.
Thanks! I’m going to go for it. It looks like an easy pattern to make.
Julieann, I think you should go with the 2nd Vogue, maybe in the sleeveless version because you could dress it down for a more casual look which I think is what you said the invitation said it should be. Depending on the shoes and accessories you wear, it could be casual yet very cool!
Happy sewing!
